The oldest known icon of Christ was painted in the fifth or sixth century and Eusebius, writing in the third, references a statue of Jesus (maybe in his native Caesarea, I don't remember exactly where) which had been there since the time of the apostles and was said to be an accurate likeliness of Christ. The beard and long, centre-parted hair go way, WAY back but nice try, Redditor.
