I'm guessing that WiFi chips require nonfree firmware to work. Also that Fedora makes installing proprietary software hard, to protect people from doing it inadvertently. When I hit this problem with Trisquel, I change distros (usually to LMDE).
Is there another Fedora family distro you could use, that's more nonchalant about shipping any nonfree components needed to make hardware work?
