I want an android phone to play around with. Doesn’t need a fancy camera, lots of storage, or to be very fast. Just functional, I’ll probably try to find a used one.

What brand/model should I get?

Pixel 6a is a really good budget phone

Quick 5 votes for Pixel. Easy enough. That’s what I was looking at!

I was being real cheap looking at 4a. Too old?

Dunno, depends what you wanna do with it I guess

Older model pixels are good for that.

OnePlus

Pixel👍

+1 on the pixels. Great phones with a solid os and older models are very budget friendly

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - I put LineageOS with Android 11 on it, runs faster than my Samsung Galaxy s9 lol - iris works perfectly, so does wallet of satoshi, #Phoenix wallet, #Zeus and #Zap...

-1 for the pixel because of the goog

Pixel, but you'll need a purple case since they don't come in purple inherently 💜

Used pixel 3s are cheap and pretty good. De-googleify with calyxos.

3s? It's a tradeoff, might be difficult to find something reliable, with still good battery.

Depends on how much of the playing you wanna do.

I had pixel 5a from some sketchy used marketplace (private and cheap)

I had a problem with constant overheating in any higher camera usage scenarios, or temperatures above 80G, though. AFAIK, that was rare problem.

Oh hmmm. I think I’m going with a 4a - found a good condition one thats fairly inexpensive. Should be fine for anything I need to do.

I still use one 4a one, and never got this issue. Just classic beaten down cracked screens, little slower, but very workable, battery needs charging ~daily even with minor usage.

Using a degoogled Pixel 6a with GrapheneOS. Enjoying the multi-profile feature. Able to access several social media platforms and protocols using multiple nyms.
