What’s the date of this? I have a crazy conspiracy theory related to this. Let me know if you want to hear it.
Reported for 4Q 2023.
Lay it on me!
The Gates Foundation bought $95M in AB-InBev stock last fall.
Shortly before the purchase AB-InBev stock had hit a near ten year low due to the general boycott of Americas most popular brand of beer, Bud Light… because… you know.
You may be wondering, what’s Americas new number one beer? Modelo, why? Because “Fuck AB-InBev, Bud Light and their social justice marketing team I’ll drink a Mexican beer.” Except AB-InBev owns Modelo and about (literally) 500 other brands of beer.
Bud Light sells for about $5.99 a 6 pack. Modelo sells for $7.99 a six pack. AB-InBev has crushed their earnings expectations for five quarters in a row because of the switch Americans have made in their brand of beer. We were duped by sophisticated, marketing ploy to increase net profits.
But wait! It gets better. Why would AB-InBev take such a gamble? Because their largest institutional shareholder is Dodge and Cox. A social justice focused, San Francisco based investment firm that has been around since the 1930s put pressure on the AB-InBev to become more inclusive. Coincidentally, Dodge and Cox has made significant contributions to the Gates Foundation.
The Gates Foundation
purposefully crashed AB-InBev stock using a sophisticated reverse psychology social media strategy to buy a bunch of shares cheaply.
Oh, by the way. AB-InBev purchases a lot of its ingredients produced from crops grown on farmland, owned by Bill Gates.
AB-InBev is not on your list of stocks they are dumping.
