Yes but in the end larger network = larger network effect.
Nostr is a network of networks. You and I are connected, and the larger our networks the more our one interactive edge does for both of us.
No need for a million or a hundred thousand followers but this is what I see coming from nostr.
Average users having networks of 200-1500 followers. Influencers having in time say 5-50K and there is always going to be big guys like say Dorsey with millions.
Contrast it to Twitter though were the average user has less than 20 followers most who never see anything they post. Then a shit ton of mega accounts who control the entire dialog.
Influencers like myself have 20K or more but 85% of our people don't see what we post hardly ever. The network effect on twitter is driven still by the mega accounts and algo controls.
I would much rather be connected to a few thousand people who each on avg have say 200 followers. Then 200K who mostly have 5.
Not so I get more reach so that my network is more powerful in both directions. I will learn more from a network with 3000 people that is 600K deep at the second level then from one with 200K direct connections.
The total is almost the same if you do the math. But if I have 3000 curating the data from the 600K from me vs. being over whelmed but every fuckin post from 200K the value of the information I see is so much higher.
Does that make sense?
