Mate, you were legally obliged to have a licence to watch the TV. It's what funds the BBC. A few years ago it was decriminalised, so now its just a £1000 fine for not paying but only if they can prove you are watching live TV. So, in short, they will send letters to addresses that haven't got a TV licence reminding them to pay. You can rey to that with either, sorry, I forgot (and pay it) or, I don't watch TV. Or don't bother replying. If you don't reply all they do is send you more threatening letters

All I get are letters and no one has attempted a confrontation, but I don't watch any TV nor do I have netflix. I'll cancel prime (I don't watch the video service) if they include that. Eventually it will be turned into a tax when the situation gets too dire. May have been prior to decriminalisation that I saw someone talking about police being involved, I don't pay enough attention to it.
