A site like that needs accurate reader counts to sell their advertising so they employ a multitude of methods to ensure that you reading the page, when, from where, your device, and how long you were on the page is all recorded.

You can dramatically reduce the metadata they collect about you by using add blockers and cookie cleaners, but to be completely private you have to use specialized OS's like GrapheneOS.

If you are an investigive journalist or the Russian Opposition leader you'd definitely want to be using GrapheneOS.

For regular people, you can get a reasonable level of privacy on a regular phone with some tools and extensions pretty easily.
