Is perhaps another approach a Nostur directory approach? Because when you’re looking for post from someone, are you really looking for the relays they’re posting on or you’re looking for their account for recent activity? if you have a list of subscriptions to people you’re interested in your client could go out to some group group of decentralized directories to find out where that individual is currently posting in terms of which relays. Recent activity, whichever relay is convenient or low latency, or etc.

Maybe someone who has more technical experience here could say why this is not a valid idea. I’m just considering is it a problem seeing notes or finding the right relays? Or is it actually a problem knowing where to look for the people you’re connected to? Something like a search crawler spider on the internet. But for your interests and contacts.

A while back people were talking about using a DHT to distribute relay lists, and you could use that to lookup where someone posts to. But it didn't get much traction.

When I initially wrote NIP-65 I had the epiphany that since these relay lists are small, don't need moderation, and are replaceable, it's not much overhead for relays to hold tens or hundreds of thousands of them (compared to the number of events that they hold), ... at least at this stage ... and so it recommends just spamming your relay list event all over the place. If people are actually doing that, you can find their relay list just about anywhere! But that solution probably won't work as the size of the community grows and as relay usage gets more and more decentralized.
