Car is absolutely part of the problem. Its they sell Americans on oil. There's been multiple attempts at electric cars in the past that could have completely supplanted oil cars, but they killed them in favor of selling more oil.

And of course there’s suppression of technologies that would reduce oil consumption…
Like hydrogen on demand or compressed air systems.
