yep it creates exclusivity, no new users use them because most people dont have bitcoin
it's a bad investment even if you have bitcoin

people probably just get on them to "network"
some people only use paid relays so you cant reach them unless someone on paid boosts you etc
they rely on hodlers to prevent price collapse
