I think self sovereign identity is achievable with NOSTR, eventually replacing passports and identity cards. I explain why here:

I agree! Great article. Thanks
Very fucking well said and all should read. ๐๐๐
"I would argue that securing our identity is far more important than securing our money and should be taken extremely seriously."
I know nostr:nprofile1qqsqddupn4l3cl65wggcyehd009g0pwuatsfudh28f90vewx68vrylqpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfdus3pgnn is working in this space and feels similar.

It can, if we can explain it properly.
Yes ๐
I would also like to see NIP06 implemented in more clients, but I'm hopeful. I saw a new one yesterday.
Yes, this will become more and more important going forward.
Of course. There are people working on a noatr based medical records too. This is promising.
There is complexity there, because you need to "trust" externally defined, but unknown organisations.
i.e. if you are brought in to A&E unconscious, a doctor needs to be able to access your records immediately without your permission.
In the UK, our NHS (National Health Service) hold our records which we are able to access through an app or website. Moving that ownership to the individual will require a lot of thought.

You mean technically right?
It's already technically possible, it's whether NOSTR's protocols can achieve the same success as Bitcoin's over time and eliminate the need for your government to verify your identity.
Oh shit, you answered. Now I guess I need to read your essay.
Gee, I feel valued ๐
As you should lol. Serious answer now. You're correct but governments will never let go of the privilege to revoke citizens' identities as they please.
John Nash, a possible Satoshi candidate, says otherwise in his "Game Theory" thesis ๐
I'm not saying it'll be easy or quick, or that it will every happen, but it could.
I am saying that it won't but who care, I hardly know my Satoshi candidates and I don't read.
Besides, my chatbot of choice begs to differ: "John Nash did not specifically mention or focus on the concept of identity control in his game theory work. His contributions mainly revolve around the Nash equilibrium, cooperative and non-cooperative games, and bargaining solutions. The topic of identity control and related issues like deception have been explored later by other researchers in extended applications of game theory, but these were not part of Nash's original theory or writings".
