Its one of the few design tools that puts out reasonable code

Is it a good choice for FOSS?

I’m just starting to evaluate whether I’d want to use webflow as a design tool for an open source nostr app. Id love to hear from the #nostrdesign community.

Pros and cons of using webflow with open source:

Open source alternatives to webflow (webiny, webstudio, silex):

I'm going to check out some of those open source options because to be honest with you I have no idea if it's a good choice for Foss or not.

Cool - I’ll be interested to know what you think!

So webiny looks like a frontend for AWS. Webstudio looks like its close to Webflow. I think out off all these tools, Ill prolly actually check webstudio out. silex looks interesting, but I didn't look too close. It looks similar to webstudio.

Not sure what's better over the 3, but I don't use AWS, so I prolly won't touch webiny.

I know they allow you to export your code and if you're paying for it, you can use it without any attribution. So I don't see any reason off the top of the head where why you couldent use if for foss stuff.

That’s along the lines of what I was thinking. I guess the downside from a foss perspective would be if someone wanted to fork your project and play with the design, it would require a webflow subscription to do so.

Maybe that wouldn’t matter all that much. They could always just edit the design by hand.

as long as you are paying the hosting bill shouldn't be an issue. You would have to export the code when you want to move or pass on the maintenance reigns.
