The star is at a much greater distance from earth...so I would answer 'behind the moon'

Another way to say it would be. On the paper it is infront of the moon.
Except that the chunk of the moon that is missing is normally a shadow. If we see the star behind the moon, it would seem the moon has been catastrophically impacted resulting in a huge portion of it being blown off.
