It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Right now, more people oppose it than support it and I imagine that's only going to increase between now and the referendum. Also, Australians have historically shown themselves to be pretty conservative when it comes to changing the constitution, most famously when they voted down the idea of becoming a republic.

On the other hand, our rulers have decided this must happen and I can't see them taking no for an answer. South Australia recently rammed legislation through parliament to set up their own version of the Voice without putting it to the public. I suspect the Federal Government will do the same.
