Observation: People are often too focused on “getting hired,” rather than hiring themselves and providing value.

James Altucher wrote a whole book about this called “Choose Yourself.”

If you work for yourself, you cannot get fired. You cannot become jobless.

Sure, you’ll have up and downs, and no one to blame but yourself when you fail. But over time, this builds callouses and subject-matter expertise that will increase your rate of success.

You don’t need to send out more job applications. You need to choose a field, become competent in that field, and provide value to your fellow man.
