There is no incentive for relay operators. Guys from plebstr team want to implement similar model as tweetoshi had. There is also something called “expensive relay” (didn’t tried it) and that is interesting model imho. Basically user would pay for storing his data and every action (event) would have cost. I imagine that user would send some sats as credit to relay operator and than he could store certain amount of events on relay.

Expensive relays are best way to go in my opinion big relays with huge trafic would cost more but you would have bigger audience. But everyone can start relay. Market competition would drive price per event down. And there will be free relays with ads. I guess.
Or combination of both concepts. Heck you can even have blue check mark in future. Lol
The first sentence seems really surprising to me. I'd expect orangepilled tech to have clear base econ. incentive model. You know, the thing that makes btc what it is.
I can imagine a handful of monetization options. I was just curious as to what have the devs chosen. It seems quite important and it's weird I didn't find anything about it.
It is important to understand that nostr is protocol like tcp/ip and not app or company. Tcp/ip also don’t have monetization
Yes, Nostr, the protocol doesn't need monetization. However Nostr, the social network needs relays to exist. Or do we have a different name for the implementation?
