Ok Nostr-World. I'm ready to show what I've been working on

-> https://asknostr.site/

It's rough around the edges but allows you to browse the #asknostr content and engage.

Stuff it can do:

∙Sign in with browser extension/remote signer or nsec

∙Browse questions by tag

∙Display profile info (hover)

∙Filter order by zaps, reactions, recency

∙Vote/Upvote answers

∙Try to guess best answer by score

Stuff it can't do (yet) in order of importance:

∙Commenting

∙Allowing 'forward' of questions by reporting with the nevent

∙Search

∙Browse by profile

Try it out. Let me know what you think https://asknostr.site/

First 10 suggestions/ideas get zaps. Important bugs reportedget more zaps :)

Really sleek. This can onboard millions of users. Very soon, it might be our most powerful onboarding tool.

Feedback:

¶ The sorting options aren't well-sorted. "Most answers" shouldn't be first if it's an arbitrary subset of "most replies," and "most recent" definitely shouldn't be the last option.

¶ I'm really impressed with how many questions actually show up in the "most recent" feed once I get there. I was hoping you'd at least be less filtered than #primal but you're even less filtered than my personal nostrudel setup - more questions show up on your site. You might have to offer some guidance on relay setup for users like me sometime.

¶ My pfp is a little hecked.

¶ I don't see relay settings. If this is a cached thing like nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg then it should be a high priority to offer a JavaScript-free frontend, unlike Primal, as a show of good faith. Nostr has been in desperate need of a JavaScript-free, tor-accessible frontend for a long time.

¶ This character is a pilcrow. Not actually feedback, or useful at all, "pilcrow" is just fun to say

It seems like there are also questions that show up in my nostrudel setup but not your site

This helps reveal how fragmented nostr actually is, it's hard to get a universal view of all available content

But that's one part I definitely think you're not doing bad at so far

Improved sorting options a bit.

Relay selection/information is on the list. Right now just using the big relays but probably will set up a relay.asknostr.site soonish too.

Will look into the profile picture. Need to update profiles to the latest kind:0 events. Still ingesting events

Already improving, nice

I wonder if there is a better way to deal with spam/nsfw/and illegal content that sometimes pops up in the AskNostr hashtag. Only displaying notes that have had more than 3 interactions means that people who have legitimate questions that no one has yet answered are less likely to receive an answer, since their post will be hidden.

Already an issue in other setups too. Good reason to at least drop a like or a 🤙 on sincere questions when scrolling

I think i solved this one with wot in latest release

NICE! I'll go check it out!

Dude... This is now my preferred way to browse for questions to answer.

For some reason, dark mode isn't working on Firefox, though...

Same behavior in Brave.

Happy to say that nostr:npub1h0uj825jgcr9lzxyp37ehasuenq070707pj63je07n8mkcsg3u0qnsrwx8 works with dark mode fine, though.
