I totally get the importance of the mute list but IMHO everyone should follow at least a couple people who present intelligent arguments that you disagree with.

Exactly, otherwise this would be like the other social medias, where everyone is too sensitive to other peoples opinions, I don’t take it personally when other people disagree with me, why would anyone? It’s not about “imposing” it’s about “sharing”.
