How do you feel about deletes?

I had a friend who ran a blog, whenever I made a good argument against him he would delete it. It really pissed me off.

The bueaty of nostr is that we can have an app that logs deletes and edits.

I delete stuff, sometimes. Like, if I accidentally post stuff twice.

Also deleted some notes with pictures, after I realized I was doxxing myself accidentally. But now I know how to delete only the image.

But, yeah, deleting is often used to confuse people.

Including content-snapshots in the replies and quotes, rather than a mere reference, would help a lot. Like I mentioned in my other note. Even if it weren't displayed, you would have evidence of what you were responding.

I've been in debates on Twitter, where they would rewrite their tweet, to make my argument look nonsensical.

Most people just scroll a thread. They won't open up notes, to see any edit history.

We already have deletes. https://nostr-delete.vercel.app lets you send them to your relays, or the top 150 (!) relays.

I think most relays respect delete events. Of course as with anything on nostr it's a best-effort kind of thing.

Yeah, that's why I was asking. Delete has greater potential to be used to hide the truth than edit.

Well, If you delete, then it's obvious from the conversation that an entry is missing and the reply documents the noteID that is missing.

With an edit that isn't really obvious, it can just look like you're confused.
