Interesting thoughts/ideas/exchange. There is definitely a marked 'insulation' and empathy, accountability, priority, competence, gap between 'elected officials' and the general populace for sure. The notion that 'they' work for 'Us' definitely seems to be missed; these 'elected representatives' and 'public servants.' -- It is WILD to me that we regularly ask of exceptional 18 year olds to perhaps take or give their life ....public service....and they do...for very little and at great risk and cost. THAT is service. -- So....yeah, when we hear of those in elected office, these 'public servants' complaining that 165k, transportation perks, exceptional healthcare etc. are inadequate to their 'burden' ... nah fam.

Which is to say, if one purports to be a public servant; ostensibly for the common good? Then serve. If one wants to garner wealth or influence? There are alternate and far more appropriate avenues.
