You clearly love your city. Have you ever considered working in parks and recreation?

I love my town as well. For years I worked in Park&Rec during college. You don’t really need any specific background other than the desire to improve your community with the resources you have. Allows you to participate with residents, too.

Just a thought. I always feel good knowing I spent hundreds of hours with hundreds of kids running summer camps, coaching basketball, etc…

Could also focus more on the park side and less on the recreational side depending on how large your department is.
