The quality of technical troubleshooting has dwindled due to the advent of AI support tools. While one can appreciate the technical benefits of AI, the decline of critical thinking is becoming more apparent.

If you have a well trained support team, you have the advantage.

Setting up managed switches (VLANs, Spanning Tree, etc) via CLI was always just beyond my general school tech guy reach. I spent a full day setting up my first one from scratch yesterday with AI help and it was awesome. I get now. But I came in with a general understanding so it just gave me that extra focused immediate feedback that searching forums and manuals lack.

I can see it both helping and crippling us - its so crazy!

Totally agree, I have a slight fear that it’s making us more divided, maybe dumber as a whole. Not immediately but as it gets more embedded in people’s lives as youngsters. Gotta understand the concepts and reasoning before using any tool, or rather before completely depending on those tools. There’s a balance, hope we find it!
