How are people making custom npubs?

I believe they are mined. Creating random ones until you get something desired. Like ‘HODL’ showing up in the string or something.

Yep. Exactly.

So will we never know how many users are on nostr because there are millions of empty accounts created that I can follow? 🤔

I believe making a bio is a measurable event so that’s the best metric for a new account.

Yeah think if it like a Bitcoin address with no sats - you can’t tell if someone is using it until there’s a balance. Same for npubs and bios.

Or maybe if there’s followers too? Any events attached to the npub.
