European Union bans self-custody of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies:

The new anti-money laundering law has banned payments with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to self-custody wallets, even in small amounts.

Also banned:

* Cash payments above €10,000

* Prohibition of anonymous cash payments above €3,000

"War on cash and gradual erosion of our financial freedom"

The prohibition “DOES NOT” apply to providers of hardware and software or providers of self-hosted wallets…

It's not their first step and will not the last. I am not sure the majority is aware and ready to fight for every inch, personal freedom is being taken off, and it often start by erasing rights for private property.

Not my point, but agree. This is what they do…. But it seems people aren’t reading the legislation and just blanket stating that it affects self-custody wallets. It’s directed at custodial hosted wallets.

Yeah you are right, and I think they did it like that to not push too hard and harsh, slowly trying to boiling us like a frog and after they closed all the possible ways out.
