Also, changing the definition of words to fit your narrative making them more relatable, is manipulation and gaslighting.
I grew up in a culture that kept saying "Be Proud. Be Proud. Be Proud." and I was really surprised when at 15 I found out that Pride is the worst of the 7 deadly sins. Everything I had seen up to that point pushed Pride as an excellent thing, and here it was on an ancient list of terrible things you can do. Western society has a schizophrenic relationship with these things. and it's logical. Some people are too arrogant and need a little humility. Some peeps are way too hard on themselves and need a shot of self-esteem. Still others swing back and forth between being too humble and overly proud of themselves day by day or hour by hour.
