I agree with everything you’re saying and I want to add one thing that a lot of people seem to overlook. It makes sense to compare and contrast gold with bitcoin but one thing I have never heard talked about is how the market cleanses itself.

During the gold standard, people kept most of their wealth in the banks while keeping a small portion of it with them in dollars for regular spending. This creates a lot of risk for the individual.

Bitcoin custodial wallets are essentially what banks were during the gold standard except the dynamic is flipped. With bitcoin, the majority of your money is in self custody while the smaller portion for daily spending is in a lightning custodial wallet. The custodial wallet provider could rob you but that system will eventually go bust and the damage will not be so devastating. Market corrections can happen faster and flush out bad actors.
