Don't run a lightning node to earn routing fees.

Run a lightning node to prevent getting rugged.

I'm not understanding why that would assist against rugging if self-custodying a/some wallet(s). Does this correlate to running a core node in tandem?

The self custody wallets like Zeus and Mutiny is running a node, it runs right on your phone

I can self-custody with lnd as well as many, many others.
