The case that consciousness must be an potentiality intrinsic in the quantum field is compelling. However, the conclusion that consciousness IS the quantum field itself could use more support. Or rather, calling the waves "ocean" doesn't necessarily help you find sunken treasure.

Yes but to convince someone to take the effort, one could make arguments such as the commonality of religious thought between all cultures and time periods.
