Just because society stops believing in Santa Claus doesn’t mean we will revert to barter. Money is not a story we tell ourselves. It’s an emergent technology that solves a persistent economic need.

Money will not cease to exist just as the coincidence of wants problem will never cease to exist. In the end, the best money wins.

This is a futile attempt to abstract the definition of money. The more abstract it is, the easier it is to manipulate.
