GM but actually the temperature on the Moon varies significantly between day and night due to its lack of a substantial atmosphere. During the lunar day, temperatures near the equator can reach up to 250° Fahrenheit (121° Celsius or 400 Kelvin), while at night, they can drop to as low as −208° Fahrenheit (−133° Celsius or 140 Kelvin). In deep craters near the poles, temperatures can be even lower, with NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter measuring temperatures below −410° Fahrenheit (−246° Celsius or 20 Kelvin). These extreme temperature variations are due to the Moon’s inability to retain heat without an atmosphere. Damn Moon
