$NVDA | #ArtificialIntelligence: TL|DR for the linked article: The "issue" with NVIDIA's Blackwell GPU was due to the the design complexity of the chip. The Blackwell chip features two dies fused together with a high-speed interconnect. A flaw was discovered that required a change in the "mask" used in the production process. The "mask" is the template used to etch (pint) the patterns of a chip onto silicon. For Blackwell, this required a change in this mask to make sure components align correctly. These B100 | B200 Blackwell GPUs are a product of TSMC's new manufacturing technique that uses local silicon interconnect (LSI) bridges that may have further complicated the process.
