-THE BITCOIN ISLAND LIFE-

In 1968, a British band called the Yardbirds broke up, and its guitarist Jimmy Page set out to create a new group.

He first recorded a song with Keith Moon and John Entwistle of The Who, but they purportedly said that joining up with Page would go over "like a lead balloon."

This phrase stayed in Page's mind, and when he ultimately did form another band with Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, they decided on the name Led Zeppelin because of it.

Within just a few years, Led Zeppelin was one of the biggest bands in the world, setting the stage for the later popularity of hard rock and heavy metal.

Their fourth album, which was released in 1971 and included "Stairway to Heaven," remains one of the best-selling records in history.

The band split in 1980 after the untimely death of Bonham, but their legacy as a groundbreaking part of musical history lives on.
