You could use a "created_at" UNIX timestamp in the past, yes, although most clients won't let you. Have to do it from command line or the event publisher.

I used the event publisher to have the start/end dates set to the past, so that this event is listed on the correct day. Just wanted to try it out, as we were trying to see what this calendar event event (unfortunate naming 😅 ) even does.
