Not sure i understand the point of Nostr. If 99.9% of folks here are against KYC and want to hold private keys, why is it we have created a ledger where EVERYTHING you say/comment/like etc can be tracked? 🤷‍♂️🤨🤔 just curious as I am smoking a bowl…

I agree. Haven’t said anything I wouldn’t irl so I am not concerned but it just seems to be a big echo chamber and just a bunch of the same folks talking one another up 🤷‍♂️
I think the point of #nostr is avoid censorship and algorithms.
The privacy, as in bitcoin, goes as far as one manages to hide behind the pseudonym
I am aware of that aspect. But what’s the point of avoiding censorship by making a trackable ledger of EVERYTHING on here that’s ever said?
For only 36k or so folks I have plenty of subscriptions being shilled and as much as they think it’s different than legacy social media, there are aspects that I don’t see much difference in.
Its about being able to say fag, nigger, lesbo, commie, kike and still have a platform the next day.
Thats the thresholds of tolerance to opinion these days.
Freedom of speech stresses anti fragile social structures helping them grow stronger.
Cracks fragile social ideas and grinds them to powder.
KYC is about being able to attack the man and silence him without challenging and confronting the idea on it's own merit.
Self censorship is the result creating an echo chamber of false signal deteriorating/stunting ideological development of civilisation.
For me anyway.

I don’t listen to podcasts.
Censorship and freedom is all contingent on the persons definition.
Saying those things on the internet isn’t free speech, have the balls to say that stuff in person in real life, otherwise you are just hiding behind a keyboard.
KYC would be like making me submit an email address or worse yet, a photo ID
Nostr just lets me generate an npub
Yeah but you also have groups of people selling tickets for meet ups and hangouts, which at the core is confusing as hell to me. Why would you want to meet up in troves for any reason, defeats the whole purpose of being anonymous in any way 🤷‍♂️
