I still remember back in the day when they first started calling it 'blog'. I still called it a 'web log'. I thought somehow that shortening the term made me sound less intelligent.

Nowadays, I just use both blog and vlog. I'm a firm believer in preserving the English language in the face of modern slang, but when it comes to something like that, they're somewhat new concepts, so having a specialized term for them doesn't really bother me anymore.
