If I understand that case correctly, a big argument is that they advertised the use of a blacklist, but in fact implemented it in an easily circumventabl way.

Ah! So defaults with clear descriptions and easy UX to change coordinators is never going to happen! Doing so would defeat the purpose, akin to TC. Your arguments just became that much harder to steelman :(

Cc: #[6] I don’t think this can be resolved anymore. Answer to why other options aren’t being offered to users^

I don't think that argument holds, shipping software that allows users to talk to some one else's computer is illegal. I'm just concerned when they talk to my computer.

*is not illegal, of course.

You’ve taken to worshiping property rights as the only ethics. Because no violation has occurred in this regard, you robotically calculate yourself as harming no one. Despite this view, your actions directly harm the privacy of users and therefore indirectly harm other individuals. You may be comfortable being one step removed, but I’m not, you stink with a selfish rot, and like TC I don’t believe it will save you in the end. Please reconsider the wider impact of your choices.

> We cannot expect governments, corporations, or other large, faceless organizations to grant us privacy out of their beneficence. It is to their advantage to speak of us, and we should expect that they will speak. To try to prevent their speech is to fight against the realities of information.
