What's everyone's thoughts on recent roomba vacuums?

I have a second gen simple unit with single button operation that has done fairly well over the years. Have had to do full tear downs for through cleaning twice, and of course replacing battery a few times and regular consumables like filters. With a dog the brushes get wound up pretty quick with string and hair requiring cleaning about every other time I empty the dust bin (might as well call it the hair bin).

I'm loathe to upgrade due to how expensive these things are. This one I got through Woot before the Amazon acquisition and I think I paid like $130. Probably a refurbished, which I'm fine with. So for those that have made the leap to newer units, so you feel you get your monies worth? Any that would be best with houses with pets?

I detest them. I have a newer model (not sure which one). Its interesting but it pushes dust around when it’s full and the suction isn’t powerful enough for corners. It’s a very shallow clean. The battery life is poor and it’s terrible on carpets/area rugs. The mopping function isn’t really good for cleaning, either. The only good thing I can think to say is it works well on the tile in the bathroom when the door is closed. It is also decent for touch ups in-between deep cleanings.

I use it after I swiffer before I vacuum with a traditional unit (a bissell designed for hair and pets). I have 3 dogs and absolutely cannot stand the idea of my house smelling like outside or dogs. It 1000% would if I only used Oswald.
