Watched Together (2025), a body horror movie directed by Michael Shanks. It’s his feature debut. A couple that has been idle for years (played by real life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie) decides to move from the city to the country, to give their lives a fresh start. During a hike, they fall into a mysterious cave. One of them drinks from a strange pool which triggers odd physical unions that brings new intimacy to the drifting couple. The supernatural fusion intensifies as the couple tries to uncover what’s happening to them and if there’s a cure. This movie was very entertaining. It had rituals, cultish vibes, very disturbing by body horror fusions, elements of dark comedy, satire of relationship dynamics. The score was incredible. It really added to the uneasy feeling and cultish vibe of the movie. It’s reminiscent of Hereditary’s (2018) score. The special effects were amazing: mostly prosthetics, make-up, puppets and animatronics, with a bit of CGI. The movie was twisted, disturbing and unsettling. I really enjoyed this one.
