π€£ but you pay it only if you want to access tv broadcast or everyone pays indiscriminately?
Discussion
As I understand it, it's for watching any sort of 'live broadcast' but I don't know what would be arguable in court. I didn't used to get one as I only watched YT etc, not any terrestrial stations.
So here since 2024 itβs just per household independent of media consumption π€£
Not just live broadcast... Any access to BBC iplayer now also counts as TV licence.
So do you have to pay it preemptively or only on demand?
Still on demand. "inspectors" still go door to door trying to see if you are watching live TV π
In the past it was the same way in Austria, and the collector GIS was basically not a stateβs authority. From 2024 here they put it into law and you just get the bill per post.
