So much of social media today is just people begging, like literally begging, for “engagement” so they can get a few crumbs paid out from the platform’s advertising overlords. I put “X users” on the meme, but spend any time on any platform that does ad revenue sharing and you see it. It is pathetic.

#value4value is fundamentally better.

I think you only need to make about 10 sats per 1000 views to match the revenue on X. We definitely make more than 10 sats per 1000 views. I think we probably make like 25 sats per 100 views

Well I found online that X pays about $8.50 per 1 million impressions, which is about $0.0085 or 0.85¢ per 1000 impressions. 10 sats ≈ 1¢.

We don’t have impression data on Nostr so it’s hard to make a direct comparison, but I definitely think I am making significantly more than 10 sats per 1000 impressions (I doubt I’ve ever reached 1000 impressions on a post). I’ve had posts get 10,000 sats, if I had to guess, maybe 100 impressions.

And on nostr everyone is “eligible” from the moment they attach a lightning wallet to their profile. My hunch is that for 99% of people, using nostr and V4V would result in far better results in terms of monetization. That will probably change over time as more people publish content to Nostr, as the amount of available content will go up, and therefore competition for zaps will likely trend to either higher quality content and/or creators that are more liked by other users.
