The term normie dates back to the 1950’s and in general is used to describe people who are not a member of a subculture. It’s been used to describe straight people, non-punk, non-hippie, non-etc…. Very recently it’s been used by online gamer and crypto communities.

Nobody is a single identity, we exist in a multitude of spaces. So we’re all normies to someone else’s in-group.
