mindful of the fact that while re-situating things until i got the new fridge running, a well insulated cooler with ice in it, outside on the ground, still had unmelted ice in it after 5 days.

Refrigeration is just keeping food below 45 degrees. Are there new and old technologies that i can hack together to create something unusually efficient?
Our coolers have been amazing. On the part of the land with electric we have a freezer - useful for the half cow share that we get from a nearby ranch - but for about 2 and half years, we've kept our day-to-day food in a Yeti.
yeah. im going to do some experiments. The other element is the ground temperature being 55 degrees year round. Cooling from 55 to 45 is much easier than from 70 to 45. Things that all of our ancestors knew well.
