Had lunch with some normies the other day. They’re talking about all the ways they optimize their tax situation. Then the topic of pensions came up and why they are taxed by the same government issuing them. Someone asked me, “Why should they be taxed?” And I said, “Well, I don’t think anyone should be taxed.” And the one of them shook her head and said, “No, people need to be taxed.”
And I thought about it, she was optimizing her own tax status. She surely would have optimized it to zero if she were able. And yet she believes “people need to be taxed.”
Such a disconnect.
