Friday night my wife notices all these pending charges on our checking account- over $800 total. We call Bank of America to find out my wife’s card number has been used even though we have it with us. On the phone for almost an hour. We are told our money will refund in 3 days and a new card will arrive in 4-7 days.

Wake up this morning and we find more fraudulent transactions- another $700. Having already cancelled and chopped up my wife’s old card, I naturally assumed it was my card that had been used. Nope.

It was my wife’s new card that she hasn’t even received yet.

Apparently your BofA Debit card with the Visa logo is actually owned by Visa not Bank of America, and merchants can automatically request your new card number through Visa if you have already shopped with them.

$1500 sitting in limbo for 3 days. Two new Debit cards issued. Bank of America says their hands are tied and I have to contact Visa to opt out of automatic merchant renewal.

Banks don’t stand a chance against Bitcoin.
