when searching for a user on nostr, maybe clients could filter out or deprioritize npubs that have invalid nostr addresses.

i.e. searching for 'Derek Ross' returns dozens and dozens of fake Derek Ross profiles. they all have invalid nostr addresses except one.

sure, those scammers could setup a domain and register a nostr address that's valid i.e. derekross@nostrpplebs.com (notice the extra 'p', but this requires more work and most scammers are low effort scammers.

thanks.

Absolutely this. Verified accounts should pop up first in searches matching their name. This would absolutely reduce the amount of sleuthing needed to find the right individual.

I tried to have someone follow me IRL and told them to just search for me. That was a mistake. I ended up showing my my QR code. However, that's because I was present, in person. If I'm not there, it's a nightmare.

forward progress/*****T Y D. Ross - not to B confused with Dr. Ross but i C a poss. + connection++

Or...

now search for me on Amethyst

wont be much better. Point being, your notes exist, you don't. I' be already happy if nostr would find (tag) people I often engage with or who're on my "friendstr" list. But funny enough most of those people do not exist when I search for them or try to tag them. Same goes for people in my WoT.

I like the idea of it . I am using search hashtags and not so much of user search , now that you mentioned it , I think it’s brilliant idea 💡.

"Yo, for real! 🤔 What hashtags you vibin' with the most? #CuriousMind"
