Deep Survival by Lawrence Gonzales

This is a book that weaves in true stories of survival and the brain mechanisms / neuroscience of what is going on in these people. I read this book in my training prep for the 2012 Death Race (that I finished....failed in 2011). This book inspired me to keep moving no matter what...that i'd literally die before I quit.

I do recommend the audio version over the print version b/c the narrator has an incredible voice and the power of "story" is amplified by hearing the saga of survival from someone else.

Never ever give up. Relentless forward motion in all situations.

When Money Dies by Adam Fergusson

A tough read, but so worthwhile. Illustrates that those in power really have no idea what they're doing. Deficit spending and inflating the money supply are not viable solutions. The book does a great job of showing how inflation fucks the average citizen and how they'll spend their worthless fiat on anything they can as the money is actively devalued.

While our future may not be the same, I think our civilization is on an eerily similar path.

One of my favorite parts in the book is when the money printer literally breaks so the government is forced to stop inflating the money supply (temporarily).
