one of the things you do in a game like that is kill things. no big deal.
this situation is like finding out one of the players is a woman and harassing them, then gloating about it later using violent imagery.
in my understanding that sort of behavior serves one purpose: discouraging women from engaging in cultures "where they aren't welcome."
and then there are subsets of people that blur the line between casual trolling and real acts of harassment, intimidation, and violence.
silence on my part would be complicity, even if i'm mistaken. culture seems to think "boys will be boys" and the behaviors are meaningless but that's ignoring a real problem.
I've seen plenty of self-identifying girls who are successful in male-dominated 4chan-descended spaces, like the dark side of the fediverse. they wield an impressive level of respect. but they tend to all act a certain way. they never complain about things like misogyny or harassment. that doesn't work.
is that you telling me to shut the fuck up?
i appreciate the questions but you seem to be missing the crux of the problem.
> tend to all act a certain way
almost as if there are acceptable and unacceptable behaviors in those environments. if they behaved differently, they would not gain the "impressive level of respect."
i don't want respect from trolls.
you do have to act a certain way in order to be respected
we have different priorities here.
