What's the problem with missing NIP-05? It's not mandatory.
While is not mandatory is more easy for finding profiles even for tagging 😅 besides if it's really you in question since the current situation of impersonation. other than that it's very easy to have one Nostr address 🤷♂️ . So, no excuses.
NIP-05 is handy only to share one's profile, it is a shorter proxy to the npub, imho.
If you are not publicly connected with a well known domain it does not help with impersonation because it is not an authentication mechanism. In fact I can create a clone of your profile and a aeontropy@ NIP-05 with whatever service is around. Which is the real Aeontropy? Web of trust determinates it.
So NIP-05 has its uses, but its absence should not stop you from following more people :)
Attestations would be nice. Like link to a tweet where you tweet your npub. Link to a fb post where you post it. Link a blog where you blog it etc
Perhaps unnecessary in most cases though. Tedious
