Thanks for sharing. We don’t have colors in the west as far as I know, but our days and names go back to ancient myths and Gods.
Saturday equals Saturns day
Friday, equals Freya
Thursday, is Thors day
Monday is moon day
Sunday is sun day
I don’t remember Tuesday and Wednesday mean
I’ve seen references to other gods as well
Thinking about colors: Buddhism has the rainbow body death, Nordic culture has the rainbow bridge, which I’m not sure, but might lead to Valhalla or the underworld
The colors and names have meaning here as well, and a lot of them have many things in common with other culture.
Sunday - Wan Athit - Sun - the god of the sun
Monday - Wan Chan(tra) - Moon - the god of the moon
Tuesday - Wan Unkarn - Mars - the god of war
Wednesday - Wan Put - Mercury - The god of communication
Wednesday Night - Rahu - Node - The Asura of darkness and secrets, the most powerful Asura.
Thursday - Wan Poruhatsawadi - Jupiter -The god of opportunity / knowledge
Friday - Wan Suk - Venus - The God of bliss / the Asura who governs over the vengeful ghosts.
Saturday - Wan Sao - Saturn - The god of of discipline.
It goes deeper than that into Hinduism, with the story of how each of these gods were created by the god of death and creation, Siva.
Fun stuff. Thai culture is a mixture of Hinduism, Budhism, Chinese folk lores, and many other influences.
