I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.

This has always read as anti-exclusivity to me. In my mind it says that if you have to be so exclusive that I have to be -allowed- to join, I don't want any part of it.

I have always tried to be inclusive in my life because I know how it feels to be excluded for being too smart, too dumb, too broke, too comfortable, too fat, too thin, too loud, too quiet, too female, too masculine; the list goes on and on. It makes me uncomfortable to see people being pushed aside. It makes me uncomfortable to see things being gatekept. It's the opposite of the freedom we all claim to aspire to achieve here.

Being kinder is what's supposed we should be, if we claim ourselves as freedom advocates. Even if we don't like the choices other people make to feel free.
